We are looking for a seasoned Texas legislative professional who knows the building, has the relationships, and knows how to advance legislative priorities. This is a high-output office with a clear agenda and high expectations.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Build the full legislative agenda for the 90th Session

  • Lead legislative strategy: bipartisan co-authorship, amendments, & committee process
  • Track priority legislation through committees, the Calendar, and the floor with precision
  • Prepare the Rep. for committee hearings, floor debate, and stakeholder meetings
  • Track legislation that conflicts with the Rep.'s priorities, develop response strategies, and prepare the Rep. with sharp questions and arguments for floor debate
  • Build and maintain relationships with member offices, lobbyists, and coalition partners
  • Lead on three priority areas: AI and technology policy, business and economic development, and religious freedom
  • Manage and develop legislative aides, holding them accountable to high standards
  • Keep the Rep. and Chief of Staff current on legislative status, priorities, and emerging risks

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Extensive Texas legislative experience: You have worked in the building, you know the process inside and out, and you have the relationships to prove it
  • A track record of advancing legislative priorities through real cross-aisle relationships
  • Subject matter depth in at least one priority area: AI and technology, business and economic development, or religious freedom
  • Strong policy research and writing skills
