Legislative Aide
Texas State Representative James Frank is seeking a Legislative Aide to work in his Capitol Office for the 89th Legislative Session. The Legislative Aide will help with all functions of the office. The ideal candidate will have a passion for public policy and substantial experience working in a legislative or policy role. Salary will be commensurate with experience and ability.
Responsibilities
- Assist in creating Rep. Frank’s floor report by analyzing bills and assembling the report.
- Assist in preparing Rep. Frank for committee hearings as needed, by analyzing bills and assembling his binder.
- Take meetings on assigned policy areas.
- Conduct policy research as assigned and at discretion.
- Develop constituent communications, such as response letters and social media posts.
- Perform constituent services, such as answering the phones and answering constituents’ questions.
- Managing Rep. Frank’s schedule and meeting requests.
Qualifications
- Experience working in politics, whether that be in a legislative office, doing public policy research, in government, or campaigns.
- Ability to handle a multitude of time-sensitive projects and tasks at once.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to analyze complex topics and summarize them succinctly.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Motivated by a strong affinity for public policy work.
