Summary:

State Representative Giovanni Capriglione is seeking an experienced, bright, and motivated individual to
serve as a full-time Legislative Director with immediate availability. Based on performance, this position
has the potential to be permanent.

Essential job duties:

• Assist the Chief of Staff in advancing the Representative's legislative package, taking the lead on
bills from conception through passage;
o Research potential policy ideas;
o Craft talking points, one-pagers, and other supportive information for bills;
o Navigate bills through the legislative process, including developing strategies and meeting
with stakeholders and other legislative offices;
• Assist with the creation of the daily floor report;
• Take meetings with constituents and other office guests, including public officials, state agencies,
etc.;
• Occasionally contribute to drafting communications such as press releases, newsletters, social
media posts, and constituent correspondence.

Qualifications:

Experience working one legislative session or more with knowledge of the legislative process is very
strongly preferred. The successful candidate will have experience in a fast-paced, high-stress environment,
as well as experience handling the other essential job duties listed above. Other required qualifications
are:
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with strong attention to detail;
• Self-starters, strong collaborators, and a willingness to serve the public;
• Experience using personal computers and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications;
• Ability to uphold strict confidentiality;
• Professional appearance, positive attitude, and a willingness to work long hours while contributing
to a relaxed office environment and staff camaraderie.

Compensation:

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
