Legislative Intern Position
The Office of State Representative Lacey Hull is seeking a legislative intern for the 88th legislative session, which ends June 2, 2025. The ideal candidate has an interest in public policy and government and is motivated to learn more about the legislative process. Interns are expected to manage multiple job duties in a fast-paced environment and be team-oriented. No previous experience is required. Interns must commit to at least 15 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Interact and greet office visitors, including constituents and advocates
- Serve as the public face of the office
- Assist with analyzing legislation and tracking bills
- Administrative functions such as scheduling, answering phones, and logging messages
- Attend meetings and briefings on behalf of the office
- Other duties as assigned
Required qualifications
- Exemplary oral and written communication skills
- A basic understanding of Texas Government
- The ability to multi-task and balance ongoing assignments
- A detail-oriented work ethic with the ability to adhere to deadlines
- Professionalism and punctuality
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs
- Ability to work the entire legislative session until at least Memorial Day weekend
Preferred but not required
- Ability to work morning hours
- Experience using Texas Legislative Council applications or conducting legislative research
- Experience in a customer service or public-facing setting
