Legislative Aide
The Office of State Representative Hubert Vo (Texas House District 149) is seeking a full-time Legislative Aide to join his Capitol office for the 89th Legislative Session. This session-only position is set to begin on January 6, 2025.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing Representative Vo’s floor reports, including organizing materials and maintaining reference binders
- Support preparation for committee hearings by compiling necessary materials and organizing committee binders
- Monitor and track committee activities and legislative actions
- Attend hearings and meetings on assigned policy areas
- Conduct policy research as assigned by the Representative or Chief of Staff
- Draft correspondence to constituents
- Provide constituent services, including answering phones and addressing constituent inquiries
Qualifications:
- Legislative experience is preferred
- Adaptability to the demands of the legislative schedule
- Possession of a general understanding of the legislative process, as well as demonstrable awareness of state, local, and federal issues
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is preferred
- Highly organized, responsible, and dependable with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in analysis and research; ability to work collaboratively and maintain confidentiality
- Full-time availability with flexibility for extended hours as needed during the legislative session
Compensation:
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
