Legislative Director

State Representative John Bryant is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Legislative Director. The Legislative Director will take charge in the development of policy positions and management of the Member's legislative agenda. In addition, the successful applicant will assist with training, managing, and guiding the staff to effectively assist the Rep. Bryant represent House District 114.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in directing legislative policy, which includes research, drafting, and
negotiation.
• Substantial experience in the Texas Legislative process, including the Texas House rules
of procedure.
• Solution-oriented approach to all tasks and must be able handle multiple tasks
simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
• Ability to work non-traditional hours when necessary, including evenings and weekends.
• Experience in drafting bills, amendments, and points of order is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and oversee the Representative's legislative agenda, including drafting
legislation and communications related documents.
• Facilitate collaboration/coalition building with the offices of city and state officials, other
legislative offices, advocacy organizations, and community leaders.
• Serve as the point of contact for assigned committees and track other legislative activity.


Salary: Commensurate with experience.
