Audio/Video Technician II

(Session Position only- multiple positions)

 SUMMARY: Perform responsible technical and production duties related to the creation of various broadcast-quality productions for broadcast television and the internet during the legislative session. All work performed under the direct supervision of the House Video/Audio Department manager. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Work includes responsibility for many productions, using complex computer-assisted video, audio, web-casting, lighting and special effects equipment. 
  • Additional duties includes providing production assistance to other producers and projects and performing related assignments. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in television/film, journalism or related field is generally preferred. Education and experience may be substituted one for another. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: General knowledge of state government policies and procedures preferred, but not required. Considerable knowledge of overall practices and equipment required for multimedia and audio/video work to include audio, video, and selected computer functions. Must adhere to broadcast-quality presentation standards and perform broadcast news functions. Ability to operate one or more of the following audio and video equipment; Adobe Creative Suite, PTZ cameras and controls, computer-based editors, switchers, mixers, tape decks, cameras, recorders and effects generators: to conceptualize and produce live television and web-cast programming, public service announcements and other video/audio productions. Applicant must also be able to communicate effectively and professionally with members, staff and the general public. Must be able to work in fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. Must be able to meet strict deadlines. Must have flexibility to work extended hours and weekends as required. Must adhere to department dress code and demonstrate the ability to follow all policies and procedures as set forth in the Texas House of Representatives Personnel Manual of Policies and Procedure.  

Job commitment until the end of the Regular Session.

GENERAL SALARY INFORMATION:

SALARY RANGE: $3,250.00 per month.
