Rep. McQueeney, John
Biography
First elected in 2024, Representative John McQueeney serves in the Texas House of Representatives representing District 97, which includes portions of southwest Tarrant County. House District 97 includes areas of Fort Worth and surrounding communities such as Tanglewood, Overton, Hulen, Mira Vista, Wedgwood, Benbrook, Edgecliff Village, and parts of Crowley. The district encompasses a mix of established neighborhoods, growing residential areas, and commercial corridors within southwest Tarrant County.
Rep. McQueeney began his first term in the 89th Legislative Session and sits on several key committees in the Texas House, including the State Affairs Committee, its Subcommittee on Telecommunications & Broadband, Licensing & Administrative Procedures, and the Select Committee on Congressional Redistricting. His assignments reflect his focus on expanding economic opportunity, improving essential infrastructure, and protecting the rights and interests of Texas families for future generations.
Before entering public service, John built a diverse business career in the private sector. A proud graduate of Texas Christian University’s M.J. Neeley School of Business, he earned a double major in E-Business and Marketing and went on to work in corporate leasing, logistics, and national retail development. John has grown multiple small businesses over the years. His experience includes operating McDonald’s franchises and building a FedEx contracting and logistics operation into a 50-truck fleet. Most recently, John acquired Chicken Express restaurants across Texas, with future plans for growth.
Outside of business and public service, John is active in his community and remains closely connected to TCU through his work on several boards and committees, including serving as an Advisory Director at Austin County State Bank in Bellville.
John lives in Fort Worth with his wife, Katie, and their two children, Jack and Sheridan, who attend All Saints Episcopal School. The McQueeneys attend St. Patrick’s Cathedral and remain active in their children’s school and community activities.
