Biography

State Representative Lynn Stucky, DVM represents Texas House District 64, which includes Denton, Krum, Corinth, Shady Shores, Hickory Creek, and Lake Dallas.

A native of rural Kansas, Dr. Lynn Stucky was raised on a farm with his five siblings. A proud graduate of Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1979 followed by his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1983.

Shortly after graduating, Representative Stucky headed to Texas to find a place to begin practicing veterinary medicine. He stopped in Denton County and has never left. In 1986, he bought into veterinary practices in both Denton and Sanger, and in 1997, he opened the Animal Hospital on Milam Road.

Over the course of his career as a veterinarian in Denton County, Dr. Stucky has cared for the animals of over 9,000 of his friends and neighbors. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, a lifetime member of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, a former member of the Denton County Animal Advisory Board and the Bayer Animal Health International Advisory Board, and he is a long-time veterinary volunteer for PRCA rodeo events. He served as President of the Denton County Veterinary Medical Association for 6 years.

In addition to his highly regarded veterinary work, Dr. Stucky has distinguished himself as a public servant and a community leader. He spent 15 years on the Sanger ISD Board of Trustees, 4 of which, as president. Rep. Stucky has also contributed to the community in a variety of other capacities. He is a graduate of Leadership Denton, a former member of the Board of Directors of the Sanger Chamber of Commerce, a long-time member of the Denton Chamber of Commerce, and since 2002 has served on the Board of Directors of the Kanakuk Institute, a graduate discipleship program for young men and women to intensively study scripture. In 2003 & 2007, he was named "Citizen of the Year" by the Sanger Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Stucky was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 2016 and took the Oath of Office in January of 2017. At the start of the 86th Legislative Session, Speaker Bonnen appointed him Vice-Chair of the House Higher Education Committee. He is also a member of the Appropriations Committee and the Resolutions Calendars Committee. He has previously served on the Land & Resource Management Committee and the Committee on Agriculture & Livestock.

Rep. Stucky and his wife, Lori, a former Denton ISD teacher and coach, celebrated 32 years of marriage this year. They are the proud parents of three grown children, Evan (wife Courtney), Lyndi and Malori. The Stucky Family are members of the Denton Bible Church.

Se graduó en Leadership Denton, fue miembro del Directorio de la Cámara de Comercio de Sanger durante seis años, es un miembro de larga data de la Cámara de Comercio de Denton y, desde 2002, es miembro del Directorio del Instituto Kanakuk, un programa de discipulado de posgrado para hombres y mujeres jóvenes para el estudio intensivo de las Sagradas Escrituras. En 2003 y 2007, la Cámara de Comercio de Sanger lo nombró "Ciudadano del Año”.

Lynn y su esposa, Lori, antigua maestra e instructora del Distrito Escolar Independiente de Denton, este año celebrarán 30 años de matrimonio. Están orgullosos de ser los padres de tres hijos adultos: Evan, Lyndi y Malori. Los miembros de la familia Stucky son miembros de Denton Bible Church.
