Bills Authored/Sponsored 86th Legislature:
John Turner was first elected in 2018 to represent House District 114, which covers a large part of north central Dallas. The district includes the neighborhoods of Lake Highlands, Hamilton Park, Preston Hollow, and Midway Hollow, among others. He currently serves on the House Appropriations Committee and the House Committee on Environmental Regulation.
John was born and raised in the East Texas town of Crockett. During summers growing up, he worked for his grandfather's small home-building business and as a news and weather broadcaster for the local radio station. After graduating from Crockett High School, John went on to Harvard College and Yale Law School.
John is an attorney with a Dallas-based law firm, where he specializes in business litigation. He has also devoted significant parts of his practice to public interest causes, like supporting our public schools and promoting cleaner air in our cities. John knows that the people of Texas expect their representatives to be problem-solvers, and to do their best to apply common sense and good judgment to the complex issues the Legislature faces.
John is married to Jenia, who is a law professor at SMU. They are the proud parents of two young sons. The Turners are active in their boys' schools, their community, and their church, Highland Park United Methodist.
