Biography

Representative Jared Patterson is a full-spectrum conservative who champions fiscal responsibility, individual liberty, life, and the fierce spirit of independence which has made Texas the greatest state in the nation.

A native Texan, Jared grew up in neighboring Grayson County and attended K-12 public schools in Whitesboro ISD. He graduated from Texas A&M University, where he took an active leadership role in various organizations, including service as vice president of the Class of 2005. While studying at Texas A&M, Jared met third generation Aggie Leslie Hamm. The two would marry in 2007. A former public school teacher, Leslie now manages the Patterson’s home and together they raise their three children, Reagan, Austin and McKinley. The Pattersons are members of First Baptist Church of Frisco.

In 2015, Jared and his family moved to Frisco where he immediately looked for ways to serve his new community. He was elected to serve on his Home Owners Association Board of Directors and is a graduate of Frisco’s City Hall 101 program. Prior to moving to Frisco, Jared served on the Sachse City Council and Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors, where he fought to cut wasteful spending, implement zero-based budgeting and to increase transparency. During his final year on council, he served as Mayor Pro Tempore and on the Executive Board of the regional North Central Texas Council of Governments.

Professionally, Jared is the Director of Energy Services at Rapid Power Management, a retail electric brokerage firm headquartered in Carrollton. His business management experience has instilled in him a solid understanding of how excessive government can unduly burden the private sector – especially small businesses – and often cause unintended consequences. Moreover, his career in the deregulated Texas electric markets has taught him the power of competition and choice to drive down costs for the consumer. As the only current member with a professional background in the Texas electricity market, Representative Patterson brings a unique perspective on important issues facing the 86th Texas Legislature.

Representative Patterson was elected to the Texas House in 2018, emphasizing the need for property tax reform, an overhaul of our broken public education funding system, toll road financial transparency and enhanced school safety. He proudly serves the taxpayers and residents of House District 106, encompassing eastern Denton County.
