Texas State Representative

The Office of State Representative Matt Shaheen is seeking a highly motivated and community-oriented District Director to manage district operations, constituent services, and community outreach efforts. The District Director serves as the Representative’s primary liaison to local governments, civic organizations, and constituents, ensuring that the office remains responsive, visible, and effective within the district.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Constituent Services: Supervise and respond to constituent inquiries, complaints, and requests for assistance with state agencies and programs.
• Community Outreach: Represent the Representative at local events, meetings, and forums; build and maintain relationships with community leaders, businesses, nonprofits, and advocacy groups.
• Calendar Management: Coordinate and manage Representative’s calendar including district events such as town halls, ribbon cuttings, and award presentations.
• Policy and Communications Support: Monitor local issues, draft reports or memos on emerging topics, and assist with public statements, newsletters, and social media updates related to district affairs.
• Legislative Coordination: Communicate district concerns and feedback to the Capitol staff; assist with bill tracking and local impact analysis.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Background:

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Familiarity with Texas state government and legislative processes is strongly preferred.
• Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for community events.

Salary:
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits are provided in accordance with Texas House of Representatives employment policies.
