State Representative Ramos Appointed to Defense & Veteran Affairs, Natural Resources committees

Austin, TX-- State Representative Ana-Maria Ramos of House District 102 has been appointed member of the Defense and Veteran's Affairs Committee and the Natural Resources Committee. "I'm pleased to be working alongside my colleagues on critical matters such as ensuring we are responsible stewards of our natural resources and making sure we are taking care of our veterans," said the Representative. The Defense and Veteran Affairs committee oversees relations between Texas and the federal government involving defense, emergency preparedness, and veterans issues. "I'm looking forward to bringing common-sense legislation to the House floor that is in the best security interest of all Texans, especially our most vulnerable community members, and protecting our state from federal overreach."

Representative Ramos is also looking forward to advancing legislation that protects our natural resources, including preserving water rights and ensuring clean air and water quality for the State of Texas. With jurisdiction over irrigation and water control, the Natural Resources committee is more important than ever in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. The Lone Star state is #1 in the nation for production of crude oil, wind, and natural gas. "Oil is Texas' greatest commercial asset, but our beaches, parks and gardens are state treasures as well and should be protected in our legislation."
