(Austin, TX) - State Representative James White is proud to announce that Krystal Scott, a teacher at Goodrich ISD, has been honored with the Texas Medical Association’s Ernest and Sarah Butler Award for Excellence in Science Teaching.
The Texas Medical Association (TMA) is the largest state medical society in the nation, representing more than 50,000 physician and medical student members. It is located in Austin and has 110 component county medical societies around the state. TMA’s key objective since 1853 is to improve the health of all Texans.
The TMA Ernest and Sarah Butler Awards for Excellence in Science Teaching recognize and reward schoolteachers at the elementary, middle, and high school levels who share their energy and enthusiasm for science with their students. Winners receive a monetary award, plus a resource grant to support their school’s science curriculum.
“It is truly a privilege to represent such an outstanding educator in the Texas House. Krystal is an asset to East Texas and I could not be any prouder to see her go above and beyond to educate our Texas children,” said Rep. White. “As a former educator myself, I know the difference teachers make in their students’ lives. I hope many of her students will go into the science field and keep their talents in our community.”
