REP. LUCIO SUPPORTS RED TAPE CHALLENGE IN AN EFFORT TO GATHER CONSTITUENT'S CONCERNS
Members of the Committee on Government Efficiency and Reform announced in July 2012 the launch of the Red Tape Challenge project.
The Texas Red Tape Challenge was designed to allow community members participate in the policy making process. The project was designed as a wiki in which members are allowed to provide ideas and recommendations on particular bills or regulations. The project is planned to continue throughout October 2012 and the recommendation gathering will be heard in January during the 83rd legislature.
"As a member of the Government Efficiency and Reform committee, I am excited to hear that other colleagues of mine share the same mission to reach out to our constituents. With the feedback of our community, we can enhance bills and get a good glimpse of how the community feels on certain issues." said Rep. Lucio.
The Texas Red Tape Challenge currently has 550 registered participants and over 50 ideas have been posted on the site. Apart from this project, the committee is also launching the Texas Higher Education Open Government Challenge for those interested in engaging with graduate-level public policy schools.
"I ask that everyone, no matter if in my district or not, participate in this exciting project." said Rep. Lucio.
Members of the community can access the Red Tape Challenge Website at www.texasredtapechallenge.com or follow the project on Twitter (@TXRedTapeChalle). Constituents are allowed to read comments on the site without registered, however, individuals who wish participate must register.
