Representative Eddie Rodriguez announces a Community Property Tax Workshop to assists residents in his district learn more about programs to help them keep their homes and to educate them regarding city initiatives under development that could affect their property values.

The workshop is Saturday, January 15 from 9am-noon at Sanchez Elementary School, 73 San Marcos Street, located between Holly and East Cesar Chavez Street.

9:30 am to 10:30 am - Property Tax Exemptions and Payment Plans: how to take advantage of programs to help reduce your property tax bill and how to setup a payment plan by Art Cory, Chief Appraiser, Travis County Central Appraisal District and Nelda Wells Spears, Travis County Tax Assessor Collector

10:30 am to 11:30 am - New Development Rules: will the Transit Oriented Development Ordinance and the Community Preservation & Reinvestment Zones help or hurt our neighborhoods? by City officials to be announced

11:30 - noon - Overview of Housing Resources and Energy Assistance Programs and how to apply by City and County housing resource/energy conservation organizations.
