Rep. González Elected Vice Chair of The Board of Hispanic Caucus Chairs, a Prominent National Organization  print page

by: Rep. González, Mary

AUSTIN – Earlier in November, The Board of Hispanic Caucus Chairs (BHCC) elected new leadership at the BHCC 13th Annual Conference in Washington, DC, and Rep. González was elected Vice Chair of the Caucus. The BHCC conference is the largest gathering of Latina/o state legislative leaders in the nation and is the premier policy event for state legislative issues relevant to the Latina/o community. This is the first time a national Latina/o legislative organization has elected a Latina to serve as the Vice Chair.

“Considering the range of issues currently impacting the Latinx community in the U.S., from immigration to education, not to mention the divisive rhetoric around our communities, I am honored to be part of the BHCC team," said newly elected Vice Chair Texas State Rep. Mary González. "The Caucus is taking crucial steps to help national leaders unify, organize, and take action."

Rep. González looks forward to augmenting the continued growth and expanded reach of the organization. As Vice Chair, she will help to support the objectives of BHCC, including advancing sound public policy at the state level, serving as a voice for the Latina/o community, and supporting the development of Latina/o state legislative leaders across the country.

“As a Representative from a state with over 11 million Latinx people, I am looking forward to collaborating on the topics that matter to our communities: voting rights, healthcare, quality public education, and more," said Rep. González.
