Early Voting Begins Today

AUSTIN – State Representative Byron Cook (Corsicana) reminds the citizens of Anderson, Freestone, Hill and Navarro Counties that, with the commencement of early voting for the November 3, 2015 elections, proper photo ID is required to vote in person.

Cook stated, "Early voting in the Lone Star State is a convenient and accessible way to make your voice heard at the polls and is available from today through Oct 30th. Moreover, citizens should be mindful of the state's photo ID requirements that help ensure the integrity of our elections."

To cast a ballot in person, voters will need one of the following approved forms of photo ID:
 Texas driver license – issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS)
 Texas personal identification card – issued by DPS
 Texas concealed handgun license – issued by DPS
 United States Military identification with photo
 United States Citizenship Certificate with photo
 United States passport book or card – issued by the U.S. government
 Election Identification Certificate – issued free by DPS

In most cases, voters voting by mail will not need to present a photo ID; and Texans age 65 and older, or people with disabilities are automatically qualified to vote by mail.

Voters may also contact their county elections office to locate the most convenient polling place and during early voting, polling place times will vary from county to county.
