PLANO - State Representative Jeff Leach will host a Public Forum on Transportation on Thursday, June 12th from 7:00 - 8:30 PM in House District 67, located at the University of Texas at Dallas, Naveen Jindal School of Management on 800 W. Campbell Road in Richardson. Featured panelists will include State Representative Larry Phillips, Chairman of the House Committee on Transportation, State Representative Ron Simmons, Member of the House Select Committee on Transportation Funding, Expenditures & Finance, Collin County Judge Keith Self, Richardson Mayor Laura Maczka and Victor Vandergriff, Member of the Texas Transportation Commission.

The featured panel of experts will provide an in-depth discussion on the current state of transportation in Texas while discussing the funding challenges and opportunities associated with our state's exploding population growth as we approach the next legislative session, which begins in January of 2015. Members of the audience will have the opportunity to submit questions after hearing from each panelist.

Representative Leach stated, "During the 83rd Legislative Session we addressed a substantial part of our growing infrastructure needs by passing monumental legislation providing for the development of long-term water resources across the state. While I consider this a major legislative victory, we must continue our work to preserve and protect the Texas Miracle by addressing our growing transportation needs head-on during the 84th Legislative Session. This will be one of my top priorities next session in the Texas House."

The forum will be co-hosted by State Representative Scott Sanford (70), the Allen-Fairview Chamber of Commerce, the Plano Chamber of Commerce, the Richardson Chamber of Commerce and Move Texas Forward. The event is open to the public and doors open at 6:00 PM. RSVP’s are requested at or by calling (972) 424-1419.

Continued Leach, "I am hopeful this forum will provide my constituents with an opportunity to learn more about our state's dire infrastructure needs and voice their concerns on this critical topic. There are many creative ideas on the table and we owe it to hardworking taxpayers to seek their valued input while carefully reviewing all options."
