WE’RE HIRING A CHIEF OF STAFF!

Salary: $100K–$130K based on experience  |  Interim: DFW, full-time  |  Session: Austin, full-time

THE ROLE: We are looking for a seasoned Texas political and legislative leader to serve as the senior-most staff leader in the office and Rep. Bhojani's chief policy and political advisor. This is a high-output office with high expectations, and Rep. Bhojani stays hands-on and closely involved, so this role calls for someone who thrives working in close partnership with him.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Lead all office operations, building, managing, and holding staff accountable with clear KPIs, SOPs, and reporting structures
• Oversee the office budget, track expenditures, and report financial status regularly
• Align regularly with the Rep. on priorities and goals, bringing solutions, not just problems
• Ensure our Legislative Directors build, track, and execute the legislative agenda on schedule
• Oversee external communications, including social media, newsletters, and press releases, consistent with the Rep.’s voice
• Interview, onboard, and manage district and Capitol interns each semester
• Schedule, coordinate, and lead regular meetings with our Advisory Councils, community town halls, listening tours, and other public engagement events
• Support the operations and growth of the Religious Freedom Caucus, including events and coalition-building across faith communities
• Build and maintain relationships with elected officials, civil society, business, and community leaders across the district
• Monitor local developments and newsworthy events relevant to the office, the district, the Rep. and the broader community, and advise the Representative accordingly
• Handle what comes up, because in this office, things come up

WHAT YOU BRING

• 3 to 5 years of senior Texas legislative experience, with a real grasp of the process
• You have led a team and held people accountable at a senior level
• You write and speak well, and hold up under deadline pressure
• You are organized in a way others notice, and proactive about what needs to happen next
• You exercise sound political judgment and discretion in sensitive, high-stakes situations
• You handle conflict directly and professionally, without drama
• You can work long, irregular hours, including evenings and weekends as needed, and can relocate to Austin during session
• You are hungry, scrappy, and humble, with a genuine drive to serve the public
