SUMMARY: Performs highly complex accounting work.  Work involves the preparation and supervision of financial statements, records, documents, and reports into the Uniform Statewide Accounting System(USAS) and the Centralized Accounting and Payroll/Personnel System (CAPPS).  Specific duties include auditing and releasing payment vouchers and assisting in the preparation of routine and special reports.  Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.  

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
• Audits and directs finance and data entry processes including revenue deposits, travel reimbursements, procurement/travel cards and payments for goods and services
• Reviews and verifies the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of vouchers submitted to USAS including deposits of revenue and payments for travel, goods, and services
• Reviews, approves, and releases documents entered into USAS
• Monitors daily interface between USAS and internal accounting system
• Assists with monthly and annual closing processes in the internal accounting system
• Assists with payroll and accounting audits
• Assists in the preparation of agency reports including the Annual Financial Report, Annual Report of Non-Financial Data, Operating Budget, General Revenue Reconciliation, Base Reconciliation, and Legislative Appropriation Request
• Works with Accounting staff and Executive Director to complete special projects

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.  Experience in supervision of staff and workflow of others is preferred.  One additional year of full-time qualifying experience in accounting and financial operation may be substituted for each year(30 semester hours) of the required college.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of office practices and administrative procedures; business grammar, syntax, and spelling. Knowledge of records administration techniques and procedures. Ability to prepare and maintain records, files, and reports. Ability to maintain an elevated level of integrity and confidentiality. Ability to multi-task and demonstrate a strong attention to detail. Positive and personable with strong people skills. Ability to demonstrate teamwork, dependability, adaptability, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in the use of a computer, applicable software, and desktop applications. General knowledge of state government policies and procedures preferred, but not required. Applicant must also be able to communicate effectively and professionally with members, staff, and the public. Must be able to work in fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. Must be able to meet strict deadlines and have the flexibility to work extended hours and weekends as required. Performs related work as assigned. Must adhere to department dress code and demonstrate the ability to follow all policies and procedures as set forth in the Personnel Manual of Policies & Procedures.  All duties are required to be performed in person on site.
