FOOD SERVICE WORKER II

SUMMARY

Provides refined food preparation and dining service. Assists with planning and hosting House special events. Ensures equipment and work areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. Provides exemplary guest services through all forms of food service. All work performed under the direct supervision of the House Special Services Department Manager. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES 

  • Assists with high quality food preparation as requested by the Special Services Manager. 
  • Develop and implement modified menus to accommodate dietary restrictions or preferences. 
  • Ensures proper food presentation, quality, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures. 
  • Provides water, coffee and tea service for 2nd floor activities. 
  • Serves and monitors the distribution of meals, and ensures that guidelines for special diets are followed. 
  • Prepares creative menus and food items (fine foods, pastries & hors d'oeuvres) for special events and holidays. 
  • Arranges dining areas for the serving of seated meals and/or serving lines. 
  • Successfully executes the set up, hosting and break down of dining areas for special events. 
  • Sanitation and cleaning of House dining and kitchen facilities; ensures equipment and work areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. 
  • Assists with inspecting grocery items on arrival for quantity, quality, and temperature conditions. 
  • Tracks food inventories, and receiving and issuing food and supplies. 
  • Daily duties may involve cleaning of House facilities including lavatories. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another. Advanced experience and skill in food service, fine dining, or catering is preferred. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Knowledge of and skill in food preparation methods, food storage, & preservation. Ability to read, scale, and prepare a recipe. Ability to keep the dining, service and food preparation areas maintained. Knowledgeable in kitchen equipment sanitation practices and maintenance. Ability to report defective equipment for repair. Ability to assist supervisor with scheduling and completing special projects. Knowledge of event planning and catering practices. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with members, staff and the general public. Must be able to work in fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. Must be able to meet strict deadlines. Must have flexibility to work extended hours and weekends as required. Must adhere to department dress code and demonstrate the ability to follow all policies and procedures as set forth in the Personnel Manual. 


GENERAL SALARY INFORMATION:

SALARY RANGE: $5,370 per month
