District Director
State Representative Philip Cortez, Ph.D. is seeking an experienced individual for the position of District Director to serve the residents of House District 117 located in San Antonio, TX. Under the supervision of the Chief of Staff, the District Director will assist the member in attending and planning events, and act as a liaison between the Representative and constituents, district
organizations, local governments, and state agencies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend and report on meetings of local government bodies, neighborhood association meetings, and community events occurring in the district
- Plan and execute community events hosted by the office such as Senior Center Luncheons, House District 117 Back to School Fair, and Senior Christmas Dance
- Serve as primary contact for constituents by receiving constituent concerns and contacting appropriate state agencies to facilitate concerns and serve as the liaison between agency and constituent to resolve issues or concerns
- Document constituent services in CMS and submit written and verbal reports to update Representative and staff
- Assist with creating digital communications and newsletters
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in related fields
- Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Ability to interact and effectively communicate with community members, including public officials and elected representatives, and their staff
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with the ability to exercise initiative and think creatively;
- Flexibility to work after hours and weekends for community events
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
- Must be reliable, dependable, and well-organized.
SALARY
