Rep. Rhetta Andrews Bowers to recognize Elizabeth Nyore for assisting an injured Rowlett police officer

Austin, TEXAS – On Monday, February 11th, State Representative Rhetta Andrews Bowers (HD 113) will recognize Elizabeth Nyore, a resident of Rowlett, Texas, on the floor of the House of Representatives for coming to the aid of an injured police officer, Sergeant Greg Baldwin, on October 2018.

“The action that Elizabeth Nyore took that day was incredibly courageous. In the middle of a chaotic scene, Ms. Nyore saw someone in need of help and was compelled to act, keeping Sergeant Baldwin calm until the paramedics arrived. I am honored to represent such wonderful citizens like Liz Nyore.”

Sergeant Baldwin was engaged in a foot chase with a man with outstanding warrants when he suffered a fall, resulting in severe leg and hip injuries. After hearing sirens and sounds of distress outside of her home, Ms. Nyore immediately rushed to Sergeant Baldwin’s side and comforted him until paramedics arrived on the scene. Ms. Nyore credits her response on that day to the example of her mother, an orthopedic nurse, from whom she learned the importance of helping strangers in need.

“Liz Nyore’s act of good citizenship towards Sergeant Baldwin is a testament to the invaluable role of caring members of the public in making our communities stronger and safer. We are proud to recognize her as a model Texan.”

We look forward to giving Ms. Nyore the special recognition that she deserves and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future.
