REP. LONGORIA NAMED VICE-CHAIR OF APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE; CONTINUES SERVING ON PENSIONS, INVESTMENTS & FINANCIAL SERVICES AND APPOINTED TO CALENDARS
AUSTIN- —This morning, Texas House Speaker Dennis Bonnen announced committee assignments for the 86th Legislative Session. State Representative Oscar Longoria (House District 35), will serve as Vice-Chair of the Appropriations Committee for a second consecutive term, he will continue serving on the Investments & Financial Services Committee, now merged in with Pensions, and was newly appointed to the Calendars Committee.
Representative Longoria's work during the interim of the 85th Legislature as a member of the Legislative Budget Board, has given him insight of the incoming budget legislators will be analyzing during this session. His continued appointment to the House Appropriations Committee secures his prominent leadership position and imperative influence on the budget-writing process; this will preserve an impactful voice benefitting the Rio Grande Valley. Most notably, his position as Vice-Chair secures a strong seat for the Rio Grande Valley Legislative Delegation.
