FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 02/04/2019
Rep. Rhetta Andrews Bowers is excited to host and honor a Group of Fourth-Grade Students from Jay. R. Thompson Elementary School this Tuesday, 2-5-19
Austin, TEXAS – On Tuesday, February 5th, State Representative Rhetta Andrews Bowers (HD 113) will honor fourth-grade students from Jay R. Thompson Elementary School in Mesquite, Texas hosting them for a fun-filled day of learning.
“As a former educator, I am very excited to host the fourth-grade students from Jay R. Thompson Elementary School. Experiences like this are necessary for schoolchildren and I hope that their day at the Capitol will not only be fun and informative, but something that they will remember for a long time.”
The students will be participating in a number of exciting activities, such as a scavenger hunt of important monuments and a Capitol tour. In addition, the students will also have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of government by learning about the three branches of Texas government, as well as how to identify and contact their elected officials.
“There is no better setting for discovering the rich history and heritage of the Lone Star State than the Texas State Capitol, and Thompson Elementary School is giving its fourth-grade class a valuable opportunity to explore our state government and how it works. Hopefully the most important lesson these children can learn is not only what they read in history books, but that they too can become a part of history.”
We look forward to honoring and hosting the fourth-graders of Jay R. Thompson Elementary School and would like to extend our best wishes for an informative and memorable visit to their Texas State Capitol.
