Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives appoints Rep. Nicole Collier to chair a committee in the House
Lawmaker from Fort Worth is the first woman in the history of the Texas Legislature, to chair the Criminal Jurisprudence Committee
FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Wednesday, January 23, 2019
Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, Dennis Bonnen, has appointed state Representative Nicole Collier, House District 95, chair of the House's nine-member Criminal Jurisprudence Committee and vice chair of the House's General Investigating Committee. Additionally, Speaker Bonnen re-appointed Rep. Collier to the Business & Industry Committee.
"I am honored and humbled that Speaker Bonnen has chosen me to serve as chair and vice chair of the Criminal Jurisprudence and General Investigating committees, respectively" said Representative Collier. "I look forward to working with my fellow lawmakers on substantive policy issues that will positively impact the people in district 95 and the great state of Texas."
Representative Collier's appointment for the 86th Texas Legislature, marks the first time a woman has held the position of chair for the Criminal Jurisprudence Committee.
The lawmaker and attorney was elected to her fourth term in office in November 2018.
