Rep. González to Join PepsiCo in Supporting the EPCC Food Bank
EL PASO - Texas ranks among the top states in the country for food insecurity, with more than 4.3 million people not knowing where their next meal will come from. In light of this troubling situation, Rep. Mary González is proud to announce PepsiCo’s support of the El Paso Community College Tejano Food Bank. PepsiCo’s $5,000 donation to EPCC’s Tejano food pantry will be used to assist El Paso students.
"When students are hungry, they don’t bring their best selves to the classroom," said Rep. González. "PepsiCo's generous support of the Tejano Food Pantry will be instrumental in helping us achieve our goal of eliminating food insecurity in our community."
The Tejano Food bank was started in 2017 by the Student Government Association in an attempt to minimize hunger on campus. In the United States, studies on hunger have revealed that more than 60 percent of families have to choose between food and other life essentials such as housing, education and utilities. EPCC’s Tejano Food Bank aims to alleviate some students from having to make those tough decisions.
