Representative Jim Murphy Earns 100% From NFIB/Texas on 2017 Voting Record
The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB/Texas) announced the results of their legislative scorecard for the 85th session on Wednesday. State Representative Jim Murphy earned a perfect score for his voting record in support of small business in the state. Representative Murphy has been recognized by NFIB/Texas in previous legislative sessions for his voting record.
"It is always an honor to be recognized for serving my constituents and the State of Texas. Small and independent businesses in Texas are a crucial part of our State's economy. Therefore, it is our duty as legislators to support them through the legislative process." said Murphy.
The report card is based on 5 key votes related to independent businesses, their employees, and ultimately the state’s economy. The votes on which legislators are graded upon are chosen with input from the 22,000 small business-owning members of the NFIB/Texas organization.
“Since the time that he entered the House, Chairman Murphy has stood strong with small business,” said NFIB/Texas Executive Director Will Newton. “He understands the impact legislation has on small businesses, their employees, and the Texas economy. We thank him for always voting with that in mind.”
The NFIB is the nation’s leading small business association, with offices in Washington, D.C., and all 50 state capitals. Founded in 1943 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, NFIB gives small and independent business owners a voice in shaping the public policy issues that affect their business.
