State Representative James White Congratulates “Outstanding Texan” Byron Lyons

(Austin, TX) - State Representative James White along with the Texas Legislative Black Caucus (TLBC) is honored to present Chief Deputy Byron Lyons of Livingston with a TLBC Outstanding Texan Award.

Chief Deputy Lyons started his career in law enforcement in 1986 working in the Polk County jail. After enrolling in the Deep East Texas Police Academy in Kilgore, TX, Deputy Lyons was hired as a patrolman by the Livingston Police Department. In 2001 he was hired as a Felony Investigator by the Polk County District Attorney’s Office before being asked by Sheriff Kenneth Hammack to serve as Chief Deputy.

“I am thankful for the work Deputy Lyons has put in in maintain our Southeast Texas communities safe,” said Rep. White. “It is a privilege to award him with a TLBC Outstanding Texan Award for the service he has given Polk county over the past years.”
