House Speaker Straus Appoints Jim Goldsworthy to Economic Incentive Oversight Board

Austin, TX-- Texas House Speaker Joe Straus appointed Jim Goldsworthy of Gainesville to the Economic Incentive Oversight Board. In regards to the selection of Mr. Goldsworthy, the Speaker noted the following:

"As a mayor and a businessman, Jim Goldsworthy will bring a valuable and fresh perspective to this oversight board," Speaker Straus said. "I'm grateful that Representative Springer recommended him to help evaluate these incentive programs."

The Economic Incentive Oversight Board, established by HB 26, will review the effectiveness and efficiency of state incentive programs and funds administered by the offices of the Governor, the Comptroller and the Department of Agriculture. The Board will make recommendations to the Legislature on each program.

Rep. Drew Springer of HD 68 served on the Economic & Small Business Development Committee during the interim that came up with HB 26 and was one of the bill's primary authors. In regards to Goldsworthy's appointment representative Springer stated, "I have great confidence that Mr. Goldsworthy's knowledge and experience will serve as a great asset to the board. I believe that Jim will bring valuable insight from the rural Texas perspective and be a strong advocate for rural development."
