REPRESENTATIVE MILLER FILES ARTICLE V CONVENTION OF THE STATES LEGISLATION
AUSTIN – Representative Rick Miller filed bill HJR 77 to call for an Article V convention of the states for the specific purpose of proposing amendments to the constitution to rein in the federal government.
Article V specifically gives state legislators the authority to convene and propose amendments when 34 or more file applications under the same subject. HJR 77 is a single subject application that calls for fiscal restraint, limiting the power, size and jurisdiction of the federal government and term limits
“There is a power struggle right now between the states and the federal government,” explains Rep. Miller “The federal government is winning on all fronts if you consider the stagnant economy, increasing taxes, burdensome and unrelenting regulations and the dismantling of our military, success. America’s Founders unanimously voted Article V into the Constitution so that citizens through their state legislatures could regain the appropriate balance.”
Representative Miller was first elected to office in 2012 and begins his second term in office representing House District 26. He currently serves on the House Appropriations Committee and the House Public Health Committee.
