Texas Water Development Board Approves $569,000 to The City of Mission
Funds to be used for Planning Phase & New Wastewater Services
AUSTIN, TX –The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved $569,000 for the City of Mission to finance its city’s water system improvements.
A $284,000 grant and a $285,000 loan from the Economically Distressed Areas Program will allow the City of Mission to finance first time wastewater system service to the City’s north side. The funds would supplement planning and design costs associated with the project.
State Representative R.D. “Bobby” Guerra attended today’s board meeting in support of District
41 and TWDB’s approved water project. The City of Mission Mayor Norberto Salinas and City Manager Martin Garza were also in attendance. All are very pleased with the Board’s commitment to provide funds that will support the city’s growing population.
“The City of Mission is one of the fastest growing cities in Texas. With this new project, the city will be able to plan for the future, provide new opportunities, and most importantly, take care of our residential population with proper sewage lines and water treatment of wastewater which is critical to the health of our families,” stated Representative Guerra.
