Representative Huberty Works to Increase Transparency in Government
Austin, TX- State Representative Dan Huberty is working with his fellow members, senior and freshman, to improve and increase transparency in government. During a public hearing of the House State Affairs Committee, a fellow legislator presented a bill that aims to shed light on how elected officials earn income through contracts with governmental entities. An important piece of legislation, it received the scrutiny of Rep. Huberty and his fellow committee members during the public hearing.
"As elected officials and lawmakers, it is our duty to ensure that we are passing good, conservative legislation in this state that not only helps improve the lives of our constituents, but also keeps ourselves accountable to those same people. As a part-time legislator, being open and honest about how I conduct myself personally and professionally has always been a priority. I have been, and will continue to work with Representative Giovanni Capriglione on H.B. 524, as he works to bring this bill to the whole House, and hopefully on to Governor Perry's desk. I remember what it was like to be a freshman lawmaker, and the help and advice I received from my more seasoned colleagues proved invaluable."
Representative Huberty has been extremely transparent in his own personal financial statements, and even released his own tax returns during his first primary campaign. He will continue to fight for limited government and transparency as an active member of the Texas House of Representatives.
