Sheffield Takes Oath of Office

Dr. J.D. Sheffield (Gatesville) was sworn in as the State Representative for District 59. Flanked by his wife Regina, supporters, and staff members, Rep. Sheffield took the oath of office alongside fellow members of the Texas House of Representatives. The 83rd session of the Legislature, which will run through late May of 2013, was called to order by recently appointed Texas Secretary of State, John Steed. Sheffield is one of 44 new legislators, the largest freshman class in decades.

“My campaign focused on supporting local, quality public education for our next generation of leaders and healthcare, particularly for rural Texans” said Sheffield. “We are ready to get to work on behalf of District 59 and Texas.”

Visitors to the Texas Capitol are encouraged to stop by Rep. Sheffield’s office in the Capitol Extension, room E2.320. Constituents may reach the office by telephone at 512-463-0628.

Dr. J.D. Sheffield is a family practice physician elected to the Texas Legislature in 2012. District 59 is comprised of eight counties: Comanche, Coryell, Erath, Hamilton, McCullough, Mills, San Saba, and Somervell.
