Representative Jim Murphy Named Chairman of House Transportation Subcommittee on Corridor Planning
Austin, Texas -- State Representative Jim Murphy (Houston) was appointed as Chairman of the House Transportation Subcommittee on Corridor Planning Organizations by Transportation Chairman Mike Krusee (Austin). Murphy has also been appointed to five other Transportation subcommittees: Teen Driving Safety, Bus Lanes, Handicapped Parking, Driver's Licenses, and Uninsured Motorists. "Jim doesn't rush to judgment. He has a good, analytical mind that sees the possibilities," said Krusee. "I have every confidence that he will do well as chairman of the Subcommittee on Corridor Planning Organizations."
Representative Murphy's subcommittee on Corridor Planning Organizations will meet on March 6th in Austin at 1:00pm. "We want to ensure local control through local input when it comes to planning new or expanded transportation corridors. Our subcommittee will study how to best achieve this goal by working with planning organizations already in place plus new ones that will be formed," said Murphy.
Representative Murphy represents House District 133, which includes part of West Harris County. He serves as Vice Chair of Urban Affairs and is a member of House Transportation and Rules and Resolutions committees.
