ELKINS WINS LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD
Austin, TX – State Representative Gary Elkins (Houston, District 135) was selected as this year’s Legislator of the Year by the Justice of the Peace and Constable’s Association of Texas for his exemplary service to his district and his state.
Following each year’s legislative session, the Justice of the Peace and Constable’s Association of Texas recognizes a small number of legislators who have displayed outstanding cooperation with their local governments. These legislators distinguish themselves through the support of legislation and issues that directly impact or affect the positions of local governments closest to the people.
Elkins, a long-time supporter of local governments’ initiatives was honored to receive the award. Representative Elkins has reaffirmed his commitment to increasing the overall effectiveness of state government by finding real solutions that work for the people of Texas.
Representative Elkins is serving his sixth term in the Texas House of Representatives. Currently, he is the Vice-Chair of the House Committee on Business & Industry. He also sits on the House Committee on Calendars and House Committee on Local Government Ways and Means.
