AUSTIN State Representative Jacey Jetton attended the Together We Are United Rally in Sugar Land, TX and Unity Against Hate Rally in Richmond, TX to speak about the importance of condemning hate and intentionally loving everyone in the diverse state of Texas.

"Fort Bend County is the most diverse county in the country and sets the example for the rest of the state to follow," Rep. Jetton said. "Hatred is easy, anger is addictive. This is why we must condemn hatred and very intentionally love and care for our neighbors across this great state. Here in Fort Bend County, we have dealt with multiple flooding events, tropical storms, winter storms, and the pandemic. In every instance, we have united and cared for our neighbors, without consideration for race, religion, or party affiliation. We may not be perfect, but we have shown how a diverse county can unite for one another."

The Together We Are United Rally leaders also recognized Jetton for his efforts this session to address concerns in criminal justice and to include Eid as an optional state holiday. Jetton stood with the state legislature on Friday for a House Committee Resolution to recognize Tejano Day and condemn hate, especially hate against Asian and Pacific Islanders.

"As a seventh generation Texan and the son of a immigrant from South Korea, I have a unique perspective," Rep. Jetton said. "In the United States of America and in Texas, our roots are diverse and our heritage should be celebrated. It should also unite us as fellow Americans and Texans."

Rep. Jetton also attended an Eid Milan Dinner with Pakistan Consul General Mr. Hashmi at the home of Mahmud Dahri and the monument ceremony for the 9th anniversary of the Tejano Monument on the lawn, south of the Texas Capitol.
