"Empowering Texas Veterans" Initiative to Kick Off On November 12th  print page

by: Rep. White, James

(Austin, TX) - State Representative James White is proud to lend his support to the Empowering Texas Veterans initiative. The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC), in partnership with the Texas Veterans Commission(TVC), the Texas Comptroller, the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), the Texas Secretary of State, and the Texas A&M McFerrin Center for Entrepreneurship have created this initiative to help our Texas veterans open up new businesses in the alcohol industry.

The program assists veterans who wish to start their own business in the alcoholic beverage industry. TABC and the TVC will pair prospective business owners with mentors from veteran-owned businesses within the alcoholic beverage industry. These mentors will advise and assist the protégés throughout the process of obtaining a TABC license or permit, as well as the other steps associated with starting a business.

"As a veteran, I understand the importance of returning to civilian life and reentering the workforce. Many of our man and women in the armed services have the skills and determination to succeed as small business owners. I thank our state agencies for leading this effort that assists our veterans in ensuring that their businesses are up and running in an expedited manner," said State Rep. White.

The kick off event will take place on November 12th, 2019, at Hi Sign Brewing (1201 Bastrop Highway, Austin, TX) beginning at 11 a.m.
