AUSTIN, Texas – Today, the 86th Texas Legislature welcomed Representative Ray Lopez of House District 125 as he was sworn in with his children, grandchildren, and wife of 48 years by his side. Rep. Lopez represents the 125th District, which covers much of San Antonio’s culturally diverse West Side. Rep. Lopez joins the Texas House of Representatives as the final member of the 86th Legislature, filling the unexpired term vacated by Rep. Justin Rodriguez’s appointment to the Bexar County Commissioners Court.

“I am incredibly honored to have this opportunity to represent the values and interests of the people of District 125,” said Representative Lopez. “I intend to serve my community and the State of Texas to the best of my abilities.”

Rep. Lopez joins the Texas House of Representatives after having served four terms on the San Antonio City Council. He is a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, a retired executive of AT&T and proudly served as a champion for public education on the Northside Independent School District School Board in San Antonio.

“Although I am entering at the midpoint of the session, I will ensure that my time in Austin during this Legislature will be marked by eagerness and effectiveness,” stated Rep. Lopez. “As a member of the Defense and Veteran’s Affairs and Juvenile Justice & Family Issues committees, I will be working to address issues that are important to my constituents and the people of Military City, USA.”
