(Austin, TX) – The Rebuild Texas Fund is announcing $1,500,000 in grant funding to help communities affected by Hurricane Harvey prepare for future hurricane seasons. Grants of up to $100,000 will support projects that enhance a community’s ability to respond to a future natural disaster.

Grants will be awarded to projects that meet the following criteria:
• Projects types that impact power supply, communications and medical equipment, and vehicles, rescue boats, or building enhancements/modifications.
• Organizations that are non-profits or governmental entities located in one or more counties designated for individual assistance under the Texas Disaster Declaration.
• The project costs up to $100,000 (If a project exceeds this, it will be considered as long as other funding sources are available or identified).
• The project can begin by July 2019 and funding can be expended within six months.

Priority will be given to communities that have not yet received other sources of funding for their project, such as FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. Organizations that have received a preparedness grant in June 2018 from the Rebuild Texas Fund are eligible to apply in this round for a different project.

Applications will be processed in two rounds: pre-proposal and final proposal. The pre-proposal round requires applicants to answer high-level questions and provide basic details of their intended project. If invited to submit a final proposal, applicants will provide further details of their intended project.

The deadline for pre-proposal submission is Monday, February 18, 2019. Applicants who are asked to prepare a full proposal will be notified by March 4th and will have until March 15th to submit the full proposal. Awardees will be named in late April.
