Town hall to address constituents' concerns regarding storm water drainage, retention issues

FORT WORTH, TEXAS Thursday, February 7, 2019

In an effort to provide Everman residents with the most up-to-date information regarding flooding issues in the city and jurisdictional control, state Representative Nicole Collier, House District 95, will host a town hall at 1 p.m., on Saturday, February 16, at the Everman City Hall Annex. The annex is located at 213 N. Race Street, in Everman.

Congressman Marc Veasey, (Texas), of congressional district 33, will be in attendance. Also attending the town hall will be representatives from TxDOT, TCEQ and the City of Fort Worth, who will conduct presentations and respond to constituents' concerns regarding jurisdictional authority.
"After last September's torrential rains affected Everman, a substantial number of the city's residents suffered excessive flood damage to their homes when six-and-a-half inches of rainwater poured down on the city," said Representative Collier. "More than 50 homes were flooded. Some residences near a creek area damaged by five feet and higher floodwater levels, became uninhabitable. Unfortunately, residents continue to be uncertain as to which governmental entity has jurisdictional authority for alleviating flood risks. This town hall will provide residents with vital information as to which state and local governmental entities are responsible for permitting and oversight."
