Representative Mayes Middleton appointed to House Committees  print page

by: Rep. Middleton, Mayes

AUSTIN, TEXAS, January 23rd, 2019 Representative Mayes Middleton received his committee appointments in the Texas House of Representatives.

Middleton said in a statement: I am honored to be appointed to three House Committees: Elections, Urban Affairs, and Local and Consent Calendars. On these committees, I can fight to make government more efficient for working families and retired seniors."

The Committee on Elections handles matters of suffrage, ballot security, and campaign finance. The Committee on Urban Affairs has jurisdiction over the powers of municipalities. The Local and Consent Calendars Committee is a procedural committee that sets the calendar of local bills and uncontested bills.

Representative Middleton continued, I am pleased with my appointments and grateful to Speaker Bonnen for entrusting me with them. I am already working for the people of Galveston of Chambers Counties. On each committee, I will have an opportunity to advance the priorities of the citizens who elected me. This includes fighting voter fraud, protecting citizens from local overreach, and keeping a close watch on bills that pass through the House's 'fast-track' calendar."

Mayes Middleton, along with his wife, Macy, and three sons, Connor, Christian, and Matthew, live in Wallisville, Texas. Mayes is a 7th generation Chambers County resident and Texan. Mayes is President of Middleton Oil Company, an independent oil and gas company that operates wells in South Texas and along the Gulf Coast, and is engaged in joint exploration ventures. In addition to his work in the oil and gas industry, Mayes also runs his ranching, cattle, and farming operations. He and his wife support numerous local community organizations and faith-based charities.
