Austin- On November 21st, Rep. Helen Giddings (Dallas) submitted a letter to House Administration Chairman Charlie Geren arguing for reforms to the draft sexual harassment policy. Representative Giddings offered the following:
"Although I cannot attend the House Administration Committee hearing tomorrow, I wanted to share my concerns and recommendations for our sexual harassment policy to be improved during this interim. Although a welcome start, it is clear lawmakers must pass comprehensive legislation during the next session. We all must show greater leadership to ensure that people are respected and protected at work. From media to entertainment, we have witnessed the consequences of harassment and assault gone unchecked and unpunished. It is time those of us in government and politics step up and force comprehensive change. I have provided the attached letter to show where I believe we can start in making a real difference."
Representative Helen Giddings proudly serves the cities of House District 109: Dallas, DeSoto, Cedar Hill, Glenn Heights, Hutchins, Lancaster, and Wilmer.
