Austin- Rep. Helen Giddings released the following statement on the passing of former Texas Governor, Mark White:
"It was with a heartfelt sadness that I learned of the passing of former Texas Governor, Mark White. Although I never had the privilege of serving with him in the Legislature, I was able to work with him after he appointed me to the Human Rights Commission. Governor White was a champion for public education and extending opportunity to every Texan. In so many ways, our state is better off because of his tremendous leadership. His work led to the capping of our elementary class sizes, giving our young students more face time with their teachers. As I attempt to do the same with prekindergarten classes, I will be thinking of his bold vision and foresight. Governor White's focus was always on giving our children their best shot at success, and I urge all of my colleagues to honor his legacy by doing the same."
Representative Helen Giddings proudly serves the cities of House District 109: Dallas, DeSoto, Cedar Hill, Glenn Heights, Hutchins, Lancaster, Wilmer, as well as part of Duncanville.
