Austin, Texas -- Dallas, TX, State Representative Roberto Alonzo (Dallas) expressed his total support to the Mega March 2017, which will be held this Sunday in the center of this city in protest of current anti-immigrants policies and to highlight what he calls "values and American justice".
As part of its support to this expected massive demonstration, Alonzo presented a few days ago before the Texas House of Representatives a proclamation to commemorate the 11th anniversary of the Mega March in Dallas and "paid tribute to all those who planned and participated in this historic event". The document was approved by this legislature.
Also, in the aforementioned resolution emphasis was placed on Tejanos, Latinos and other nationalities, on the topic of immigration to commit themselves to freely express their opinions on this controversial topic.
"The spirit of civic participation remains strong and continues encouraging public discussion and driving political activism focused on a series of critical issues in the Lone Star State", stated in the proclamation.
With respect to the previous Mega March, Representative Roberto Alonzo stated the previous event managed to gather between 350 thousand and a half million people who marched through the main streets of downtown Dallas in support of the adoption of a comprehensive, just and humane immigration reform that would give legal residency to more than 11 million undocumented.
