Joined by donors and allies, Representative Helen Giddings will provide a fundraising update on the fight against "lunch shaming" in Texas schools.
On May 23rd, Rep. Giddings joined Feeding Texas, the statewide network of food banks, to kick off a fundraising campaign to end lunch shaming once and for all. One hundred percent of donations collected in the campaign will go to fill the lunch accounts of Texas children in need.
In conjunction with her efforts to institute grace periods in Texas schools, Rep. Giddings has worked tirelessly with Feeding Texas to raise money for these children. This press conference will provide an exciting update on these efforts.
Special guests will include Civil Rights Activist Peter Johnson, victim of lunch shaming, Elizabeth Matadi, and Dr. Roy Alston, who personally donated to fill unpaid lunch accounts at three Dallas-area schools.
