AUSTIN—Representatives Ron Simmons, Larry Gonzales, Shawn Thierry, other members of the Texas Legislature, as well as stakeholders from several autism advocacy groups (collectively the Texas Autism Advocacy Alliance) will hold a press conference to discuss autism-related legislation and bring awareness to the challenges of autistic individuals and their families on Wednesday, April 12, 2017.
The lawmakers and stakeholders will hold their press conference at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, on the South Capitol Steps.
**If raining, a notice will be sent out that the press conference will take place in the Speaker’s Press Conference Room of the Texas Capitol, Room 2W.6. **
Hundreds of families will be traveling from across the state to speak to their state legislators on the issues they face as well as to convey their support of autism-related legislation. Since his first term in 2013, Representative Ron Simmons has hosted Autism Awareness Day at the Capitol. Texas Autism Advocacy Alliance partners and event sponsors include the Autism Society of America, Autism Speaks, ABA Spectrum, and Spark Learning.
