AUSTIN, TX –U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul (TX-10) and State Representative Kevin Roberts (TX-126) hosted a press conference this week with Texas small business owners to discuss McCaul’s bill in the U.S. House and Roberts’s bill in the State House to cut red tape.

Speakers: State Rep. Kevin Roberts, U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul, and business owners Lisa Fullerton (San Antonio) and Crystal Molen (Houston)
Congressman McCaul: “It is important for us on the federal level to coordinate with our state partners, especially on issues that not only affect Texans but all Americans across the country. We are in a different era today than we were just a year ago; there is great momentum now to change things in Washington: to create a business-friendly environment in order to not only be competitive nationally, but on a global level as well. I am proud to join State Rep. Roberts and local business owners in the fight to cut burdensome regulations that hinder our economic growth, and I invite my colleagues, our administration, and our bright minds in civil society to work with me to push forward this concept and take it a step further.”
State Representative Roberts: "When I speak with business owners, I continually hear about the amount of time and money they spend complying with regulations, both state and federal. Regulations are truly a hidden tax on businesses and we have to protect the entrepreneurial spirit that runs deep in Texans. I am grateful for Congressman McCaul's leadership on the federal level and willingness to support state efforts to provide a predictable regulatory environment. When we free up businesses to spend less time dealing with red tape, we are freeing them up to grow their businesses and create additional jobs."
Representative Kevin Roberts represents House District 126, which is primarily made up of unincorporated northwest Harris County. He is currently serving his first term in the Texas House of Representatives.
