AUSTIN - As the Texas Legislature convenes for its 85th Legislative Session, veteran lawmaker Helen Giddings announced her legislative priorities and measures of success.
"Those of us with the honor of temporary stewardship of this state owe it to our constituents to listen to their concerns, learn from them, and make significant reforms and investments on their behalf. For Texas to live up to its full potential, every Texan must have the opportunity to reach their own."
Representative Giddings vows to be a voice for all Texans, but particularly those whose voices are not heard.
"I will fight for our children by working to properly fund our schools, end the school-to-prison pipeline, and overhaul the state's foster care system. I will fight for our young adults by making higher education more effective, affordable, and accessible to anyone willing to work hard for a college degree. I will fight for those left behind by our criminal justice system by ending barriers to meaningful second chances. I will work with every member of this body to deliver on these goals for the people of House District 109 and beyond."
Representative Helen Giddings proudly serves the cities of House District 109: Dallas, DeSoto, Cedar Hill, Glenn Heights, Hutchins, Lancaster, Wilmer, as well as part of Duncanville.
